Acrylic Painting
For this particular painting I wanted to create a warm and glowy sunset somewhere in a forest on the top of mountain. When choosing the reference photo I loved the snowy trees and sunset in the image and was enticed to paint this image. This project pushed me to paint something different and challenge myself in different ways. To recreate the texture in the trees a used different brushes of varying smaller sizes and used brisk, short strokes with thin, minimal paint to create the branches. Afterwards I used round brushes and thicker white paint to dab the snow onto the trees branches . In the future I would love to compose similar paintings of landscapes and sunsets.
Still Life Drawing
For this drawing, we were asked to choose from several still life subjects. I was inspired to choose the reference photo for its colour and interesting shape. To recreate the texture, I used soft pastel to create a smooth, shiny surface on the pencil and a soft blended look. Afterwards, I used different techniques to replicate the texture of
the graphite and case of the pencil.
